South Thanet’s reaction to election expenses scandal

The place thought most likely to face a by-election as a result of the expenses investigations is South Thanet, where the Tories went all out during the 2015 general election to deny UKIP leader Nigel Farage a seat in parliament. Craig Mackinlay, the man who did win South Thanet for the Conservatives, has been questioned under caution by Kent police over whether he correctly declared all the money spent on re-electing him.
