South Africa welcomes new President

After weeks of negotiations, South Africa finally has a new president. Jacob Zuma agreed to step down last night, paving the way for Cyril Ramaphosa to be sworn in today.

In his first address to parliament, Ramaphosa vowed to tackle the endemic corruption that had dogged Zuma’s presidency and said he would “try very hard not to disappoint the people of South Africa”.
