Some will say Macron has acted ‘too late’ on France’s lockdown, says The Economist’s Sophie Pedder

Emmanuel Macron has announced that France is to go into a new national lockdown.

Within the last few minutes, the French President said that there will be a national curfew starting at 7pm each night from this Saturday and that people are to be encouraged to work from home.

Certain shops and schools will be shut and travel within France, without a valid reason, will be limited.

We speak to Sophie Pedder, chief of The Economist’s bureau in Paris.
