Soldiers killed in attack on Kabul army base

Militants have attacked an army base near a military academy in the Afghan capital Kabul, killing at least 11 soldiers. Sixteen other Afghan soldiers were injured at the Marshal Fahim military academy. It is the third major attack in a spate of violence in the city.

Nine days ago, an attack on the Intercontinental Hotel killed 22 people, mostly foreigners. On Saturday, an ambulance packed with explosives killed more than 100 people in the Chicken Street shopping area.
