Social mobility in UK ‘has stagnated’ since 2014

Born privileged in the UK – then lucky you – chances are you’ll stay privileged. Born poor and disadvantaged – well any attempt to climb the ladder will be beset by barriers.

Inequality in Britain is now “entrenched from birth to work”. The grim finding from today’s State of the Nation report by the Social Mobility Commission. It says social mobility in the UK has been virtually “stagnant ” since 2014. And all that even though social mobility was one of the Prime Minister’s so called “burning injustices”.
