Shops and gyms reopen as England enters new tier system

Shops across England have been welcoming customers again, after the four week national lockdown was lifted, with queues forming outside some stores.

But 99% of the country will still be under strict coronavirus measures, banning households from mixing indoors.

That’s creating problems for hospitality venues, which remain closed in large swathes of the country, while retailers are hoping for a boost in sales in the vital weeks before Christmas.
