Scottish government urged to declare public health emergency over drug deaths

Data Correspondent and Presenter

The Scottish Government is being urged to declare a Public Health Emergency in the face of a sharp increase in drug-related deaths – now the highest in the EU.

The call from campaigners came as North Ayrshire council declared its own drug deaths emergency in a bid to tackle the growing crisis.

They’re calling for urgent action, including more funding and improvement to local services.
