Saudi-US relations under pressure after journalist’s disappearance

President Trump says the United States is looking into the disappearance of a Saudi journalist, who is feared to have been murdered.
Jamal Khashoggi – who’s written for the Washington Post – vanished a week ago after he went into the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.

Turkey says it will form a joint group with the Saudis to find out what’s happened.

Here, the foreign secretary Jeremy Hunt said there would be “serious consequences” if the allegations were true, although he didn’t spell out what that might mean.
