Sanctions on Iran strengthened even in wake of coronavirus outbreak

The US imposed further economic sanctions on Iran today, even as the death toll from coronavirus in the Islamic Republic passed a thousand. Britain is hoping that Iran, which has been overwhelmed by the virus, will now release dual nationals, including the charity worker Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, who has been temporarily allowed out from prison.
