Russia holds military parade to mark victory over Nazi Germany

Foreign Affairs Correspondent

Russia’s annual celebration of the USSR’s victory over Nazi Germany was held today, after the coronavirus pandemic meant it had to be postponed from last month.

The 75th anniversary event went ahead, despite an official ban on mass gatherings, in a country with the world’s third highest tally of Covid cases.

The show of military might took place as Russians prepare to vote in a referendum designed to give President Putin a further two presidential terms.
