Royal Wedding rap: MC NxtGen’s tribute to Kate and Wills

Forget the coronation anthem and Psalm 122, MC NxtGen has penned a Royal Wedding anthem for modern Britain, exclusively for Channel 4 News.

While Westminster Abbey will echo with “Guide me, O thou great redeemer”, the alternative wedding party will be alive with lyrics such as “Wills had skills when it came to girls” and “Haaa you was just a young teen, when you met Kate you dreamed that she would be your queen”.

Twenty-two-year-old MC NxtGen, from Loughborough, shot to fame with his Andrew Lansley rap, a detailed dressing down of the health secretary’s NHS reforms referring at length to PCTs and the new GP consortia in a blunt tirade against the minister.

Not your usual urban themes of cars, guns and girls, the burning issues in the lyrics hit a popular nerve and the video went viral via YouTube, Twitter and Facebook.

The musician, whose real name is Sean Donnelly, has now turned his lyrical skills to the wedding of the century with this “alternative best man’s speech”. The words in all their regal glory are below.
