Revealed: 75% of Met stop and searches of women and girls ended in no further action

One of the Met’s most controversial practices has been its use of stop-and-search on women and girls.

New figures obtained by this programme reveal that almost 90,000 women and girls were stopped and searched by the Met over a six-year period – but in three quarters of cases there was no further action taken against them.

The data also shows hundreds of girls under the age of 19 were strip searched – with those from ethnic minorities more likely to be targeted.
