Refugees fleeing other conflicts ask for same treatment as Ukrainian refugees

The UK’s “Homes for Ukraine” scheme opened yesterday with more than 100,000 people offering to house Ukrainian refugees.

Those applying will be offered accommodation and given the right to work and claim benefits.

However, for civilians caught up in other conflicts, such as the recent Taliban victory in Afghanistan, there is no such scheme.

Earlier this week the UN High Commissioner for Refugees urged the world not to ignore Afghanistan, where millions face hunger and destitution.
