Rees-Mogg facing calls to resign after apologising for Grenfell comments

Now the leader of the Commons Jacob Rees-Mogg is facing growing calls to resign, after he “profoundly” apologised for suggesting on a radio programme that Grenfell Tower fire victims did not use “common sense” and leave the burning building.

Today Mr Rees Mogg apologised – saying that he would have listened to the fire brigade advice to stay and wait. Grenfell United said his words had been “extremely painful and insulting to bereaved families”.
