Record levels of toxic air make Delhi world’s most polluted city

Imagine living in a city where pollution is so bad, doctors say simply breathing in the air is like smoking 10 cigarettes a day.

That is the reality in Delhi, where last year toxic air reached record levels, making it the world’s most polluted city.

A few months ago, it got so bad that the government ordered people to stay at home.

India is home to 22 of the world’s 30 most polluted cities, and more than 1.6 million people die from air-related illnesses every year.
