Questions over England’s ‘track-and-trace’ system

The government promised the Covid ‘track-and-trace’ system would be “world beating”.

But new figures show the number of close contacts being reached through the process in England has fallen.

It reached 72.4 per cent of close contacts in the week ending July 29th, compared with 90.7 per cent back at the start of June.

But local health protection teams are having more success, reaching 98 per cent of close contacts.
