Protests following police shooting of Stephon Clark

Protestors blocked the streets in the Californian city of Sacramento last night after the funeral of a young black man who was shot dead by police.

22 year old Stephon Clark, who was unarmed, was killed in his grandmother’s back yard earlier this month – after two officers mistook the mobile phone he was holding for a weapon, and fired at him 20 times.

Sacramento’s police chief has promised to investigate and ‘find ways to prevent this sort of tragedy.’
