Prime Minister insists people should be able to ‘shop with confidence’

Boris Johnson has insisted people should be able to ‘shop with confidence’ when non-essential stores in England open tomorrow.

On a visit to Westfield shopping centre, the prime minister said the falling number of cases gave “more margin for manoeuvre” on the 2 metre social distancing rule.

The official number of UK coronavirus deaths has risen by 36 since yesterday – although weekend figures are usually lower because of reporting delays.
