Counting is underway in the Irish general election which is expected to show a move away from the established centre-right parties towards left-wing Sinn Fein.

Ballot boxes were opened at nine this morning and an exit poll suggests that Sinn Fein, Fianna Fail and Prime Minister Leo Varadkar’s Fine Gael are in a three-way tie for first preference votes.
