Police search Wiltshire forest for missing Sian O’Callaghan

More than 60 officers are searching for Sian O’Callaghan who has not been seen since early on Saturday morning in Swindon. Her boyfriend has appealed for information.

Missing: Sian O'Callaghan.

Kevin Reape told a police press conference in Swindon that he hoped someone has information about Sian: “Someone out there must know where she is. This is a terrible time for all of us and we are hoping for her safe return.”

Sian O’Callaghan was last seen at around 2.50am on Saturday, as she left the Suju club in Swindon in Wiltshire on her own. Friends have described the disappearance as totally out of character. She has not been in touch with anyone in her family or updated her Facebook page.

Phone clue

Her phone was later used in Savernake Forest near Marlborough, 12 miles away from the club. Police officers have been searching the 4,500 acre forest and have stationed officers in the town of Marlborough itself.

Fighting back tears, Mr Reape said: “Sian is a lively and bubbly person who is instantly liked by everyone she meets. She is very close to her family and has lots of friends.”

Sian is white, 5ft 3 inches and of medium build, with brown hair in an asymmetric style. She has green eyes. Police say they are concerned that she has not updated her Facebook account.

Chief Inspector Mick Jones of Wiltshire Police says it is completely out of character: “She is normally an avid Facebook user, but has not used her account since earlier in the day on Friday. For Sian not to return home after a night out and not make any contact with friends or family is not only unusual for her, but is something she has never done before.”
