Police and protesters clash on seventh weekend of Hong Kong demonstrations

Riot police have fired tear gas at pro-democracy protestors in Hong Kong.

Weekly demonstrations began almost two months ago, initially campaigning for the withdrawal of an extradition bill that would see suspects sent to mainland China for trial.

Hong Kong’s leader Carrie Lam has suspended the bill, but that hasn’t deterred protestors.

Organisers say hundreds of thousands took part today, many still involved in a standoff this evening.
