PM faces opposition finalising new post-Brexit trading rules

The Prime Minister and the European Union are believed to be polishing the final details of a new deal on post-Brexit trading rules for Northern Ireland.

The agreement, if approved, seeks to ease checks on trade between mainland UK and Northern Ireland that were introduced under the Northern Ireland Protocol.

But the negotiations have been fraught, and the Prime Minister is facing stiff opposition from some pro-Brexit MPs and the Democratic Unionist Party.
