Plans for gambling crackdown unveiled

The government has unveiled plans to crack down on gambling – including raising the age limit for playing the National Lottery to 18.

Ministers have promised a “major and wide ranging review”, and are calling for views on a range of measures designed to tackle all forms of problem gambling, as well as protecting children and vulnerable people.

That could mean betting firms are banned from sponsoring football shirts, as well as more restrictions on advertising.
