Pegasus Bridge: site of first D-Day liberation

We are at the site of that first landing – Pegasus Bridge, over the River Orne.  

Tomorrow the focus will switch to northern France – the 6th of June, the actual day of the landings on the beaches of Normandy. But the first Allied boots on the ground did not arrive from the sea, but from the air, just after midnight, a full six hours before the land invasion.
