Patients forced to find new GPs as surgeries closed

Hundreds of thousands of patients have had to find new GPs as record numbers of doctors’ surgeries closed last year. Analysis of Freedom of Information requests made by Pulse magazine showed the vast majority of the closures were among small local surgeries.

The government has promised to increase the number of family doctors, but NHS data shows the number of GPs has actually dropped by 500 in the last year.
