Paralympics: Japan extends emergency Covid-19 measures for games

Sports reporter

A number of Paralympic teams have withdrawn from Tokyo 2020, due to the difficulties of pandemic travel and quarantine measures.

Samoa, Kiribati, Vanuatu and Tonga will no longer take part, while Afghanistan’s team can’t be there because of the security situation back home.

Japan has extended its Covid-19 emergency measures for the games, which like the Olympics, will take place without spectators.

Our sports reporter Jordan Jarrett-Bryan is in Tokyo.
