Nineteen children have died from Strep A since September

The UK Health Security Agency has released figures which show that 19 children have died from Strep A since September.

The agency confirmed a sharp increase in the number of infections for this time of year and today the government introduced a new measure to allow pharmacists to dispense alternative forms of penicillin – there’s a shortage of it because of  increased demand caused by the Strep A outbreak.
