The head of the NHS in Wales has apologised to patients who’ve had “very poor experiences” as hospitals struggle to meet demand.

Large numbers of acutely unwell patients over the Christmas period forced hospitals in Wales to use extra intensive care beds, meaning fewer nurses per patient.

The daughter of a 92-year-old man told this programme how he’d been planning his own funeral as he lay on the floor waiting for an ambulance.
