New UK quarantine rules come into force for those arriving from overseas

Passengers are confused. Airlines are furious. Border officials say they are unprepared.

But from today almost everyone arriving in the UK will have to self-isolate for 14 days.

In England there will be random checks and breaching the rules could mean a £1,000 fine.

The Government says the measures are essential to avoid a second wave of coronavirus – but airlines are already calling for a judicial review.
