MPs launch inquiry into reality television after Jeremy Kyle Show cancelled by ITV

It was ITV’s highest rating daytime show and ran for 14 years. Today the channel pulled the plug on The Jeremy Kyle Show after the death of a guest, just a week after he’d failed a lie detector test on an episode about infidelity.

It’s raised uncomfortable questions, not just for ITV, but the whole television industry. A powerful committee of MPs has now launched an investigation into reality TV and the support offered to participants after filming.
