‘Moral duty’ to send children back to school by September, says Boris Johnson

The national priority and a moral duty. Boris Johnson has made it clear he wants all schoolchildren in England to be back in their classrooms by September.

But ministers have rejected a call by the Children’s Commissioner for routine virus testing for pupils and staff – saying increased hygiene and social distancing measures would be the main way of controlling the virus.

Schools in Scotland are due to return on Tuesday – with separate plans for Wales and Northern Ireland.
