Monkeypox spread could affect access to sexual health services

Monkeypox is not a sexually transmitted disease, but the fact that it is spread from person to person by close physical contact means that a current outbreak in the UK has already led some sexual health clinics to restrict access.

They say it’s to protect staff and users from potentially being exposed – a move that is worrying health professionals.

20 cases of Monkeypox have already been confirmed in the UK.
