Minister admits early testing could have prevented deaths – as trials of new tracing app set to begin

Trials of the new NHS track and tracing app are set to begin this week on the Isle of Wight – but there are still questions over how fast and how far it can be rolled out nationwide.

Ministers say at least 50 to 60 percent of the population would need to use the app, for it to be effective – and thousands of contact tracers will need to be employed to back it up.
