Met Police remove hundreds of names from gangs matrix

It was designed to help prevent violent crime. But now the Metropolitan Police has been forced to delete hundreds of names from its Gang Violence Matrix.

The database contains more than 2,000 names of suspected gang members.

But critics say it fails to distinguish between offenders and victims. The deletions follow a warning from the Information Commissioner that the Met could be in breach of data protection laws.
