MEPs vote to take action against Hungary

Members of the European Parliament have voted overwhelmingly to take action against Hungary, accusing Viktor Orban’s government of a “systemic threat” to democracy and rule of law.

It’s the first time Article 7 has been triggered against a member state, just the start of a long process which could lead to Hungary’s voting rights being suspended. But most British Conservative MEPs voted against the move.
