May wins no confidence vote

Theresa May has defeated a vote of no confidence bid within her own party after securing the votes of 200 Conservative MPs.

Sir Graham Brady delivered the news to the party’s 1922 Committee following a day of division and dispute within the party.

The Prime Minister needed to secure at least 159 votes and did so by fending off a rebellious group of 117 MPs to obtain 67% of the overall vote.
