May backs political secretary after Brexit whistleblower claims

Political Correspondent

Theresa May has backed her political secretary Stephen Parkinson, despite calls for him to be sacked for allegedly “outing” a whistleblower as gay. Brexit campaigner Shahmir Sanni told this programme that Vote Leave “cheated” during the EU referendum campaign.

In response, Mr Parkinson, a political adviser at No 10, as well as denying that he’d done anything wrong, published a personal statement, revealing details of a relationship he’d had with Mr Sanni.
