May and Corbyn hold ‘useful’ Brexit talks

There is only one deal and that deal won’t be changed. That was the message from the European Commission President to Britain today, dealing a major blow to Theresa May’s hopes of negotiating an “alternative arrangement” for the Irish border after Brexit.

Mrs May met the Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn this afternoon for talks, described as “a useful exchange of views”. But Europe’s chief negotiator said he hoped the meeting would lead to something more than “only eating biscuits and drinking tea”.
