Mass scramble to escape France to avoid two-week quarantine

The perils of pandemic holidays. Travellers returning from France must now self isolate for 14 days as new restrictions came into force after the 4am deadline.

In a stampede away from our second favourite holiday destination people were buying up all available plane, train and boat tickets, sometimes at vastly inflated prices. Even private planes were sold out. The government said the measure was imposed due to rising numbers of coronavirus cases in France.
