‘Little Amal’ artistic director on hope and the importance of refugees

News Correspondent

Today marks World Refugee Day, and from Afghanistan to Ukraine, conflicts, financial disaster and environmental crises have forced some 25 million people to leave their homes.

Artistic Director Amir Nizar Zuabi is an award winning theatre director from Palestine who has created Little Amal, a puppet of a nine-year-old child refugee who’s travelled to England from Turkey.

Amal means hope in Arabic, and the puppet has now moved thousands of miles across the world in support of refugees.
