The flame is due to be lit at Stoke Mandeville Stadium, the birthplace of the Paralympic movement. It will be the first location to be involved in the Paralympic Torch Relay that is outside of the hosting country.

Guests, including winter and summer Paralympians, will witness gold medal winning British wheelchair racing athlete Hannah Cockcroft light the flame, called the Heritage Flame.

The flame is due to be lit from a position inside a piece of artwork dedicated to the disabled Greek god Hephaestus.

Sir Ian McKellen begins the ceremony with a film telling the story of Stoke Mandeville and the Paralympic Games.
