Leeds becomes first UK city to lower childhood obesity

North of England Correspondent

Childhood obesity has been described as a national crisis, but it seems one city is starting to reverse the trend.

Leeds has seen a reduction in the rate of overweight younger children – a first in the UK. It appears parenting classes have helped.

Not only are mums and dads encouraged to set a good example by eating healthily themselves, they are also shown how to use strategies on their children which make the youngsters choose foods with fewer carbs and calories.
