Labour vows to end privatisation of council services

Labour has said it will seek to end much of the outsourcing of council services to private companies, if it comes into power.

Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell said services such as rubbish collection, street cleaning and school dinners could be taken back in-house.

His party wants to end what it calls an “expensive, inefficient, ideological pursuit of privatisation”.
