Labour push for parliamentary approval before future military action

Political Editor

After Windrush, parliament moved on to debate the military strikes in Syria with a statement from Theresa May. This evening they will also hold an emergency debate, which many MPs believe should have happened before the bombing began. The Prime Minister told MPs that the strikes had been both morally and legally right to to prevent the humanitarian suffering caused by the use of chemical weapons in Syria.

Jeremy Corbyn said a new law should make Prime Ministers ask parliament before taking military action, and he questioned whether the action was taken at the whim of Donald Trump.
