Labour promise to extend maternity pay to a year

Labour has pledged to “dismantle the structural barriers” women face in the workplace.

They’ve proposed extending maternity pay from nine months to a year and promised the right to choose flexible working hours when starting a job.

The Conservatives said the plans could “cripple business” – but are the proposals a potential vote-winner for Labour?
