Knife crime at decade high, figures reveal

The number of people cautioned or convicted for a knife crime in England and Wales reached a record high according to the latest figures from the Ministry of Justice.

And more of those found guilty of knife and weapon offences are being given immediate jail sentences.

The government says the statistics should serve as a warning to offenders.

But knife crime campaigners are yet to be convinced that the government is doing all it could to tackle violence on our streets.
