Ken Loach: ‘I hope Labour will outlaw zero-hours contracts’

Asda workers at least have contracts – many people in Britain’s modern gig economy have to subsist on some sort of zero hours, sporadic employment, where any kind of long term security or stability is a pipe dream. Or a brave new world of flexibility, according to its supporters.

The subject of precarious work is the latest social issue tackled by film director Ken Loach, in his new film Sorry We Missed You which opens in cinemas today.

Ken Loach joins us now from Bath, and here in the studio is Rachel Cunliffe, who’s features editor at City AM.
