Johnson under pressure from Tory MPs to allow vote on new coronavirus laws

Boris Johnson is under increasing pressure from his own backbenchers to let MPs debate and vote on new coronavirus laws before they are introduced.

The Commons must decide later this week whether to renew the Government’s emergency powers to create new rules and criminal offences without any scrutiny.

More than 50 Conservative MPs have threatened to rebel if they are not given more say.
