Johnson apologises after ‘misspeaking’ about local lockdown rules

The Prime Minister has apologised after he “misspoke” as he tried to explain new lockdown restrictions being imposed in the North East of England.

More and more areas face curbs as the virus spreads across the country leading to confusion. Today, the UK recorded 7,143 new cases, the biggest daily rise since the start of the pandemic.

This as the world hits a grim milestone – a million people have now died from Covid 19.
