Johnson and Hancock test positive for coronavirus as UK cases leap

First the Prime Minister, then the Health Secretary. Both testing positive for coronavirus, both saying they have only mild symptoms and are continuing to work from home.

Then the Chief Medical Officer, Chris Whitty, said he was self-isolating at home with “compatible symptoms”.

It’s a stark reminder, said Michael Gove, who led the Government’s daily briefing today, that the virus does not discriminate – “We are all at risk”.
